Like the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe but aren't ready to make a statement that flashy and need some semblance of practicality in your life? Mercedes is here for you, dear high-end luxury retail shopper. Meet the 2016 GLE, the replacement for the venerable ML.
Well, it's not so much a replacement for the ML so much as it is a heavy mid-cycle refresh. It's got a new front end and an interior made over to resemble Mercedes' more current offerings. It's also in line with their new naming scheme for SUVs, which all start with GL- now and end in a letter that corresponds to the size and/or platform of their sedan equivalent. This one's GLE, as in E-Class. Can you dig it?
The GLE is powered by a variety of four, six and eight-cylinder gas and diesel engines that, frankly, I'm too lazy list here because all I really care about is the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 and GLE63 S.
The two AMGs are putting down 550 and 577 horsepower, respectively, from a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. You are welcome to read about the lesser engines on a more boring automotive site.
Here are some pretty pictures!
