It's pretty cold in Detroit this time of year. Sometimes it even snows pretty hard. But there's no reason to fear this year — the 2015 Subaru WRX STI will debut at the Detroit Auto Show in a few weeks, and no amount of bad weather can stop it.

Subaru confirmed today that the new STI will drop on Jan. 14 at the Detroit show, and we can fully expect it to leak sometime before that, as is what usually happens. It's based on the new 2015 WRX, but instead of that car's 2.0-liter turbo boxer engine, it is expected to get a 2.5-liter mill with somewhere around 300 horsepower. No CVT option here either, plebes. The STI is all manual, all the time.

We don't know what the new STI will look like quite yet, but I'm still hoping it will be like this Autofans render from a while back. Everything looks better in rally blue with gold wheels and a giant wing.
