2015 Lincoln Navigator Undercuts Escalade By $10k, Drops V8 Altogether

The 2015 Lincoln Navigator will start at $62,475, seriously undercutting the $71,695 2015 Cadillac Escalade. The new Nav's also looking at 9,000 pounds of towing capacity with the only engine option: a 3.5 EcoBoost V6. Did I hear you say "Maybe I could get used to that cheese-slicer face?"

The Navigator's twin-turbo direct-injection EcoBoost engine will make 380 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Running gear is a new six-speed SelectShift transmission and 4.10 axle with no limited-slip.

Stepping up from the base, MSRP for 4x2 models equipped with the Reserve Package is $69,975, $72,900 in 4x4.

The long wheelbase Lincoln Navigator L will also be available as 2WD or 4WD. That one's got a 131-inch wheelbase (versus 119 inches for the standard wheelbase) and a total length of 222.3 inches (versus 208.4 inches). Pricing on the big one starts at $64,640 for the 4x2 version and $68,215 for the 4x4 version.

For comparison, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade will run from $71,695 to $92,840, with Standard, Luxury, and Premium trims. The long wheelbase Escalade ESV starts at $75,690.

The new Navigator might not be the most inspiring thing to look at inside or out, but it's pretty damn comfortable to sit in. And you'd be crazy not to shop this segment with your ass.

If the performance of the EcoBoost engine is halfway decent Ford might finally take a bigger chunk out of the giant-luxury-SUV market GM has dominated for so long.
