With all of 1.25 more inches of rear leg room and a very tasty 295 lb-ft of torque from the 2.0 turbo four, the 2014 Malibu looks like it's a success in the making. That is, assuming that America's car buying public does not give a crap about:
- cutting edge technology
- a sense of drama
- a feeling of luxury
- an aspirational badge
- class-leading fuel economy
- pride of ownership
So if you want a middle-of-the-road family sedan with no startling or stand-out features at all, go for the Malibu.
If you think 23/35 mpg is "good enough," or if you often look at things you loathe and say they're "good enough," the Malibu is probably right for you.
If you like the color beige, or if vanilla is your favorite ice cream flavor, get this new and improved Chevy.
You won't be disappointed.
