A few days ago, just hours after we showed you the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe, the Bavarians issued a rather long press release about their newest pride. It's not what you would call an exciting read, and we hadn't gotten around to posting the official news because we correctly guessed most of the stats then. Still, we should have, so here are the most important bits:
It has exactly the same 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 (S63B44TU) as the M5 and the M6, with 560 hp at 5,750 – 7,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 500 lb-ft available from 1,500 rpm. It redlines at 7200, while 0-60 takes 4.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph, as always with the Germans. And they have the Autobahn!
It's only 55 pounds heavier than the coupe, weighing 4,299 lbs. That's still quite a lot. While BMW thinks it's important to stress that it was developed at the Nurburgring, we believe you probably shouldn't go there with it.
Also, the optional carbon brakes might be very good at stopping you, while 42.8 lb lighter compared to the steel one, but the golden calipers coming with the system are so hideous that not even the naked carbon fibre roof can make us forget about them.
But most importantly: it comes with ISOFIX for your child seats.
There is no word on pricing yet, but expect the M6 Gran Coupe to reach US shores early next summer...
