2011 Porsche Cayenne: Geneva-Bound And Leaked Out

Little known fact: some of the best off-roading in the world lies in the mountains above Bonneville. Sadly, the 2011 Porsche Cayenne won't be taking advantage of that, it's reportedly lost its off-road ability to shed some weight.

This photo — that probably was photoshopped by Porsche — was apparently leaked on Porsche's own site earlier today, but has now been swapped for a plain old 2010 GTS model. What does this leak reveal? Pretty much what we expected, a Porscheified version of the 2011 VW Touareg. That vehicle managed to drop 459 Lbs mostly thanks to dropping some of the more off-road oriented equipment like the locking center diff from the standard equipment list.

Now, if someone wanted to take advantage of the mountains in the background of the above photo using that Touareg, they could spec the "Terrain Tech Packet" and its locking center and rear diffs and push-button low-range transfer case. Reportedly, that system will not be available on the Cayenne.. Look for motivation in the Porsche to come from the Panamera's range of 4.8-liter V8s and the 3.6-liter V6 with power ranging from 300 HP all the way up to 493 with addition of turbocharging on the V8.
