When word came down that Lotus's 2006 Elise model will meet all US specifications (the current, hot-ass Elise is waived from compliance for three years), Road and Track ran a photo many assumed was an advance look at the '06 model.

After the alleged '06 (the yellow one above) started appearing on various Web sites and discussion boards, enthusiasts called bullshit. The car, which is far less hot than the current Elise, was actually a Photoshopped Vauxhall VX220 (the red one — which is, not ironically, based on the Elise). (Of course, R&T never said the illustration was the actual 2006 Elise. But that's a matter for a different board.)
