It's original, it's rusty, and to us this barn find 1947 Chevrolet Suburban is undeniably cool. After a few decades spent in a Virginia barn this weathered example of the original SUV has been unearthed and is currently for sale on Ebay.

We've been on an original/barn find kick lately, so coming across this Suburban yesterday was like striking gold. One of the coolest things about incessantly browsing car classified is certainly getting to see the kind of rusty old vehicles other people discover.

According to the seller this Suburban—one of 718 "Barn Door" Suburbans made in '47— was last inspected in 1972. During years spent sitting since then the motor has frozen but otherwise the truck has been pretty well preserved. Once this truck's mechanical needs are attended to, this Suburban could be a super cool original cruiser as-is.

Bidding on this Barn Find has reached $5600 with less than a day left which is still shy of the $7400 reserve. We'd be willing to bet based on the level of interest in this old truck, bidding will get close to the reserve.

Although it's obviously up to the next owner to decide what the future holds for this Suburban we'd absolutely love to see it return to the road in "as found" condition.

I'm all for preserving original vehicles, but in this case, I think this truck is a bit too far gone to leave as-is. It may not warrant a total nut-and-bolt take down and rebuilding, but the body needs to be totally refinished. The interior's in better shape than the exterior, but the seats would at least need recovering. This truck was on the road for 25 years straight, and it looks like it was well-used during that quarter century, so its not exactly a time capsule situation.
