What's The Most Surprisingly Effective Towing Vehicle?

We have this idea in America that to tow anything, you need a Ferd F-Teenthousand Super Crew King Cab Bacchanalia Ranch Ultra Duty 3500 Dually. This is a lie, perpetrated upon you by car companies desperate for their truck profit margins

The truth is there are all sorts of vehicles that are surprisingly great at towing! Like the Volkswagen Golf TDI, which according to TTAC was the the British Caravan Club’s “Overall Towcar of 2009.” The current one, pictured above, is probably just as effective.

Sometimes you need to tow stuff and you don’t have a truck — or want one. What vehicle do you turn to to get the job done?
