A car is a lot like a recipe — you need a lot of different ingredients to make it work. A great car needs appealing looks, a good chassis, a good suspension, a good transmission, a good engine, and so on. Get one of these ingredients wrong and the end product suffers.
The Mazda Roadpacer I wrote about for Sunday's edition of Forgotten Cars is a perfect example of what happens when a car ends up with the wrong. I mean, come on: a tiny, torqueless 1.3-liter Mazda rotary engine had no business being in a huge Australian sedan from GM.
So here's our question today: What car had the wrong engine under its hood? And were there any wonderful engines that ended up in the wrong car? Show us the worst mismatches of all time in Kinja.
