We knew it was only a matter of time before Porsche's latest supercar project, the Porsche 918 Spyder, would be spotted testing on the Nurburgring.

That time has finally come.

For those of you who may have exiled yourself to the crenulated ruins of a medieval German castle, the 918 is Porsche's V8 Hybrid successor to the amazing Carrera GT. The plug-in drivetrain will let the car get amazing fuel mileage, claimed to max out around 75 MPG, while still being insanely fast.

Even though it has some eco pretensions, it sounds absolutely incredible under full throttle. This thing will eat Prii up like muesli while wearing Martini livery.
