What you’re looking at is a proposed highway that would link London to New York, going the long way round. It’s been making the news lately, and it’s certainly crazy.
This Trans-Siberian highway was recently proposed by Russian Railways president Vladimir Yakunin, as The Siberian Times reports.
Here are Yakunin’s words, which are actually quite heartening.
This is an inter-state, inter-civilization, project. It should be an alternative to the current (neo-liberal) model, which has caused a systemic crisis. The project should be turned into a world ‘future zone’, and it must be based on leading, not catching, technologies.
That’s a very heartening statement, if somewhat insane.
