It used to be that all racing drivers were amateurs, but now the very best wheelmen and women get paid for the privilege. The very worst pay for their seats.
Now, there are some very good gentleman drivers (they're more common than you might think), but there are also some remarkably awful ones, like Vadim Kogay of recent Monza hijinks fame.
