The guys at Regular Car Reviews think the DeLorean DMC-12 is a bit like Marilyn Monroe – everyone remembers and adores the Marilyn persona, but not nearly enough credit is given to Norma Jean.
Beyond the iconic image of the DeLorean and all the cultural associations that go along with it, there is actually a pretty good car that wants to stand out in it's own right. The DMC-12 is an especially good car if it's a "Stage-2," as in this example owned by Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire. Farah's DeLorean was rebuilt by the new DeLorean Motor Company to unlock it's full potential.
It is the DeLorean that could have been, but never was.
This isn't the first time Regular Car Reviews reviewed a DeLorean, and they say this second review was an attempt at getting a less star-struck perspective. They found that car is a lot like Norma Jean, in that it's a decent car that wants to be appreciated for its own merits, beyond it's iconic image.
