Are you going to be in Austin for SXSW? You could spend big bucks on a badge to hear the startup crowd bloviate about #disrupting, or you could come to Jalopnik’s big throwdown instead! The Great Jalopnik Throwdown at SXSW is coming Monday, March 14, from 6-10 p.m.
The folks at Mazda are helping us throw a big free party at the Hype Hotel in East Austin with some music, shorts from last year’s JFF, drinks, and best of all, a big fun discussion on the future of driving featuring some of your favorite writers and some special guests.
Not just the future of cars, mind you, but the future of the human act of driving. What happens to people who love to drive when the machines are starting to do it for us?
We’ll have Jalopnik writer and resident mad scientist Jason Torchinsky, former columnist and current Editor-at-Large at The Drive/professional speedster Alex Roy, Gizmodo’s urbanism editor Alissa Walker, NASCAR ace and occasional Jalop hot shoe Parker Kligerman, and Gabe Klein, entrepreneur, writer, former Zipcar exec and former head of both D.C. and Chicago’s transportation departments.
If you’re going to be in Austin for SXSW or in the Austin area in mid-March, put this on your calendar. No badge required, but an RSVP is! You can do that here:
We’ll see you there!
