We drool over truly beautiful, relatively low-volume car designs like the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche Cayman, but there's something to be said for regular family cars that don't suck. On that note, take a look at the 2014 Kia Forte.
Kia is still getting a lot of mileage off of hiring their head designer Peter Schreyer away from Audi. The Forte looks like it just treads the line between so plain it's boring, and so simple it's nice. We don't know if it's just the great shots by our spy photographer for-hire Brian Williams, or the design itself, but the car seems to strike a good balance.
As for how things are under the hood, the Forte comes with either a 148 horsepower 1.8 liter and a 173 horsepower 2.0 liter. Compared to the old Forte, Kia downsized both its engines but upped their power.
The car is noticeably bigger than the old car, with a full two inches more in the wheelbase. There are also a few new toys to go along with the bigger size.
Again, we're happy to see progress for cars like these, and on Kia in particular.
