We've heard of some pretty silly excuses from exotic car owners who have just turned their high dollar investments into insurance write-offs, but we'd have to say Joerg Daescher has the strangest explanation for crashing his 1995 Ferrari Testarossa we've ever heard.

According to the 53 year old man, it wasn't a heavy foot that caused him to crash his F512M last week in Lower Saxony, Germany — it was a hedgehog. Yes, a hedgehog. You know, like "Sonic."

The UK's Daily Mail reports that while trying to avoid the prickly mammal on wet roads, Daescher spun out of control in his Ferrari and hit a barrier.

Luckily neither the man or the hedgehog (not pictured) were injured in the crash, but the same could not be said for the Ferrari.

The car sustained an estimated £30,000 (about $47,500) worth of damage. We can only wonder what effect this hefty repair bill will have on Daescher's actions next time he sees a small animal in the road.
