Replica builders are an odd breed — as dedicated to their craft as those guys who once built ships in bottles. A Florida man built this "Bugatti Veyron" from a Mercury Cougar, and it can be yours for $89,000.
The transformational build, which included the exterior rebody and custom leather interior, took Mike Duke nine months. He kept the Cougar's 2.5-liter V6, however, so performance-wise, it falls far short from the car with which it shares a resemblance. Duke created the body from composite and fiberglass, over a tubular steel frame.
Still, the donor 2002 Cougar's AutoCheck report on eBay confirms no accidents or title issues, so buyers can Buy it Now with confidence. (Thanks to everyone who provided the tip!)
