Raw acceleration is by no means the measure of a truck, but a fella's got to be able to get into traffic and have a little fun at a stop light. For this test we ran the trucks down the drag strip at Milan Dragway in Milan, Michigan, with and without a 6,500 lb trailer. Times were taken via data acquisition equipment installed and operated by Ricardo. Consider the results to reflect the best case scenario, as the surface traction at a drag strip can only be likened to a giant strip of fly paper.

The newly updated 2009 Chevy Silverado gets a huge boost in acceleration thanks to a 6.2 liter V8 with 403 HP and 417 lb-ft of torque mated to a six speed transmission. A brake stand combined with a matted accelerator get you to sixty miles per hour in a scant 7.04 seconds with the quarter mile following at 15.52 and 94.13 miles per hour.
