We watched the first part of the Turkish Grand Prix this morning and after the first corner featured some serious car over car accident action and the Ferrari/Mercedes slap fest, we got a little bored and sought out better things to do with our Sunday. Our mistake. We missed the Bruno Senna stray dog destruction derby. Yep, Fido (do wild dogs have names?) and a friend wandered onto the track. Fido's friend escaped but Fido wasn't so lucky, and ended up being struck by Senna's right suspension. Both the suspension and the dog found their end. Yeah, Felipe Massa may have won the race, but we definitely know who lost. Poor, poor Fido. This video is not safe for members of the ASPCA, small children or anyone else with a strong dislike for seeing dogs accidentally run over on a track. [Eurosport and Youtube]

you might might have noticed the corner of the video has a "GP2" logo... that's because this incident happened during the GP2 race (i only know because i read a report on it... forgot to wake up for the Turkey races this morning).
also, FElipe Massa.
i don't actually have anything meaningful to say about this incident, though...
Bruno Senna drives in GP2, the feeder series right beneath F1. Just sayin'.
Poor doggy...
Is it just me, or did anybody else notice how Bruno's ass had a cute little swagger as he sashayed away from the camera... how does one 'wolf-whistle' on the Interwebs?
nice one charles!
it was just you
One mutt to another, "Hey.. let's go in there, I smell something interesting..."
Yeah I think it was just you, I want to know what was said by him (The driver) when he got out of the car in the pits....throwing himself around like that, it looks like he started yelling at the other team member watching the screens....
@boost_me: Well, I'd be pretty pissed too.
That thing was surprisingly controllable for a tricycle.
@sliderule:
@boost_me:
Not surprised I was the only one... having spent the weekend writing reviews of gay porn tends to put me into a topical frame of mind. Context-shift, if you will...
How in the world do not one but two large dogs get past security and onto the track? That was a fatal problem for the dog but could have been for the drivers too.
Fido was looking for the dog track, fatal mistake.
Felipe Massa won the F1 race. Not Filipe Massa.
@boost_me: I imagine he was mad because the morons running the race didn't notice the dog running around the premises and throw a caution (or whatever they call it in those funky European races). I'd have been pissed off too.
~zzzt~"Paging Bey Mustafa Carolus Darwin. You are needed at the on-track awards podium. Bey Mustafa Carolus Darwin to the on-track awards podium, please. Your cellphone has also been found by Gizmodo."
@charles_barrett: not just, but among very few to be sure!
If you listen carefully while Senna walking away, you can faintly hear samba music playing in the background. His hip movements go with the beat of the music.
Move bitch, get out the way
Get out the way bitch, get out the way
(I know that was tasteless, but someone was gonna say it.)
Yikes I'd be so pissed if a stray dog just ruined the race for me.
I think I can hear him saying "Dammit there goes the PETA sponsorship..."
@charles_barrett: Are you suggesting the Senna might of been, well, the night before at the Taxi Club?... Shall we say.
@LandofMinos: Well, I don't know him personally, but his sexy sway would have had me buying him drinks all night if necessary... woof!
@FuzzyPlushroom: Well said.
@charles_barrett:
I noticed it too :)
@aesthari: Thank you for salvaging me from the heap of "self-serving loser who is pathetically making hopeful wishes" stack... not that I won't be back soon and fully deserving of the title...
There's some definite sway action going on there...
@Novaload: Once I get past my sexual post, I have to agree: these stray animals should NOT make it onto the track. It is SO dangerous for drivers AND viewers alike. They should have better procedures in place,,,!
@Shapeshifter: Maybe he just had a wedgie from sitting in the seat too long... and didn't want to be seen adjusting himself on camera.
You don't know that much about F1, do you? :) Bruno Senna, that amazing F1 legendary driver, born in Filipe Massa's Brazil. :)
I actually thought that the race was one of the more interesting F1 races, because the track design allowed for some actual overtaking. And not just in the pits.
Doggone.
It wasn't until we'd had it for about five years, and I'd spent about six months total underneath it, that we finally finished plucking all the German Shepherd hair out from all the hanging bits of the Opel GT.
Gross.
Wow, dog gets hit on a race track, not much news. Horse has an accident on the track, it's all over the news. Hrmmmm.
Also, I wonder what the Stig's reaction would have been to this.
;)yeah, that was GP2 not F1... romain grosjean won GP2 2nd race, and giorgio pantano GP2 1st race and massa F1 race. fortunately kimi redoggie ached to pole too. I feel sorry for the doggie ;D
Ha ha ha... That was hilarious. But then again, I don't care for Formula racing or dogs.
I want an ignore button.
Don't know what the layout of this track is, but there have been several incidents here in the US of DEER running out onto the track. I was at Road Atlanta about 10 years, when during the Petit LeMans a deer ran from the infield onto the track during the race. He crossed the fence, where I was wathcing the race, out of the track right in from of me (turn 10). Wasn't one of the open wheel drivers hurt in an accident with a deer a Road America awhile back?
@P161911: Yes, Cristiano Da Matta was injured when his Champ car struck a deer at Road America a couple years ago.
re: this video. I love dogs too much to watch. I feel bad for the dog, and I'm glad Senna or any other driver didn't get more seriously injured.
Part of the local road course where I flag is adjacent to a patch of forest. Last week I was stationed at the flag stand in that section of the track. In addition to our regular vigilance when working yellow flag duty, we also keep on the look out for wild things emerging and hopping the fence.
Fortunately we haven't had any critters larger than turtles wander into harms way. And cars are going a bit slower than those from GP2 or F1.
@charles_barrett: I was looking for something humorous to ignore the potential danger to the driver. His walk provided it. I hadn't had coffee yet and couldn't determine sashay from swagger. Then I read the comments and you used both words in the same sentence. You're the best.
In Turkey, dog hit you!
Any relation to Ayrton Senna, the guy who was killed in that F1 crash about 15 years ago?
@VTBen: Yus. His nephew, I believe.
Why do drivers always take the gloves off first when they're pissed? I'd take the hat off, then the gloves. You cool down much faster that way.
@VTBen:
It is his nephew...his sister Viviane's son. Ayrton was killed 14 years ago this past May 1st. Bruno's father was killed in a motorcylce accident the following year.
@ir_427: @tcab: Thanks for enlightening this very casual racing fan. I'm amazed this guy still wants to race considering his family's history.
@Turboner: You ever try to take off a helmet with gloves on? It's not that easy.
Dogs are so stupid. If this had happened to me, I would have went hunting for his pal to relieve my frustration.
@Git Em SteveDave: The Stig would have waved a hand and levitated the dog out of the way.
There are so many stray dogs in Turkey you can't say with any degree of certainty wether there is or isn't one on the track.
Well, hell, someone had to clear the dog off of the damn track! The security guys couldn't do it and the dude working the flag must have been sleeping, or wondered what that yellow flag was for sitting next to the red and checkered one.
PETA remarks........
