Yesterday we mentioned all the speculation regarding the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and a focus group that SHO owners participated in, at the behest of Ford engineers and planners. Using the leaked photos of what everyone suspects is the 2010 Ford Taurus, the excitable folks over at BringBackTheSHO.com put their steady hands to the task of giving us a peek at what they hope will be the next Taurus SHO.
This is an update of their previous work using the Ford Five Hundred-cum-Taurus as a platform for a new generation of SHO vehicles. If the SHO does come around again, look for it to have twinforce power, which is Ford's attempt to create higher output, smaller displacement engines with turbocharging and direct injection. We'll take one in black. [Thanks to BringBackTheSHO for the renderings]

I can't decide whether it's the fender vents or the snowflake wheels that ruin the looks more.
SHOwagon!
The boy racer stripes have got to go...
@DannyBN: Fender vents, Ford US parts bin. Wheels, Ford Europe parts bin.
They really need to black out the chrome to differentiate it from the regular model, IMHO.
@DannyBN: Fender vents all the way.
I actually dig the wheels, and I actually dig the car. For a Ford... I'd say it's a winner.
I say the Acura, where's the Taurus?
Honestly, they're all evolving toward each other anyway. It looks passably sharp - FoMoCo could sure use a winner these days.
@Ash & Carry: You mean like this?
One angle huh? They really took that and ran with it. Even an ugly girl can look good at the right angle...aka myspace angles!
@DannyBN: That's the stuff, right there. "Chrome creep" has gotten on my nerves over the last few years.
you say Taurus, i say Aussie Falcon
@Ash78: Chrome creep is still better than silver-painted plastic creep.
Smooth lines. It's calling out to the Audi A4 sedan. I like it. Ford is in desperate need of a nicely styled car that appeals to the under 35 year old crowd.
It's just a Mondeo,boring!
SHO nuff. if they make it, Europe will surely get it. will we?
Ooooooooooo...
Racing stripes and windshield stickers... cool!
"Yeah, they say two thousand zero zero party over.
Oops out of time.
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999."
[Sarcasm to English translation: "Let's get into the 21st century with our designs, shall we?"]
@smsolo1: Europe already gets the Mondeo, but has never had the Taurus
I started a rumor on the Crown Vic board that the new Taurus could be a reskinned Falcon with left hand controls. Although the greenhouse area in all the imagery I have seen looks like a the same greenhouse area shape as the old 500/current Taurus.
The 2010 Taurus looks sharp. These renderings don't do much to improve on it.
The SHO is a neat idea, but I'm with everyone else on this on: Give me the Aussie Falcon.
Agreed. If per the focus group yesterday Ford are aiming the SHO as a full-sized car, it's probably better to bring over the Falcon. With the trick TwinForce.
@JUST POLAЯ:
Nice find on Thumper. Supposed to handle reasonably well too.
I wonder why the renderings didn't include the decals from pinnacle of SHO performance, the Firehawk Ninja Turtle cars:

Supposedly the Ford engineers installed a specially tweaked ECU. Would like to have a few copies of them.
Mr. Ford, I have Scion on line 1. They want the TC back. Thanks.
this set of images looks like what happens after photoshopping pontiac wheels and a little blue emblem onto the grill of an audi...
american design by committee = fail
The black on black looks good. But they shoulda had a G8.
Uh, it looks like an Audi
SHO-nuff
Im not a huge fan of boy racer stripes, however, the original white with blue look comes from the 50's and 60's when cars entered at Le Mans had national colors attatched to them (Yellow- Belgium, Red- Italy, Blue- France...) So I can most of the time look past them as long as they are tasteful.
What's funny is how this set of FAN renderings, (yes, estimates of people not at all associated with Ford of what this could look like, if it even happens) is being insulted as if it's a Ford design effort in any way shape or form.
Best looking Ford that the US gets, now give us a REAL Focus please!
@rlj676: Many people have major perspective / boundary issues. It is pretty funny!
Aussie Falcon......
Acura TSX, is that you?
@OldeEnglishD: Yes, we still need the real Focus. I saw a 2005 Focus beside a 2008 Focus yesterday and I am still appalled over the similarities. But given the time to shake out the bugs of the original Focus, it was best not to change model in the states for a few more years.
Today's SHO is the LS4 Impala.
Make the Falcon into the new Taurus!
V8 Power! Less bloated styling!Optional AWD! Ranchero variant!
It's a damn no brainer. All they need to do is cook up an optional hybrid engine and they're set.
@Dr.Danger's got the power: I have one question...
Whooooooooo's the master?
fo sho, this looks like the new mazda 6
The Taurus is a bigger car than the original Taurus SHO - wouldn't it be more appropriate to SHO-ize the Fusion?
@saabophile2: They should SHO-ize both and the Ford Flex too.
@saabophile2: Exactly. The Fusion is about the size the Taurus used to be. Come to think of it, why not drop one of those new, compact turbo diesels in the AWD Fusion, turn up the boost, improve the suspension, and call it a day?
sweet. Can still fix it with older taurus parts at the pull-a-part down the street.
Odd front end. You don't know where to look. The headlights are small and far back, and there are two distracting maws on the front. The front end needs a focus point.
what's the size difference between the D3 platform (Taurus) and the the CD3 (Mazda6, Fusion)?
It's just a lame p-chop from a fan, folks.
Original:
Twinforce=over 400 lb/feet of torque. So that either means some wicked bad torque steer or maybe awd.
Oh man look out GTR/ ZR1. Ford will SHO u the way.
Taurus seven minutes flat around the ring with luggage kids and motherinlaw.
Sold
@416Hammy:
The source is actually a leaked cell phone pic of what is "thought" to be the 2010 Taurus.
screw the SHO!
I am pissed they never brought over the Cosworth Escort!
well it sure as hell looks better than the current "five hundred" taurus
@Red AuerБЯд╒╒: sho-nuff!
A4 + Volvo ridge-bumps + Holden
the front reminds the now ugly Benz CL
No matter how it got there, the idea is valid, imo.
US Ford designers it was a good run but when Europe hands you something you take it and run with it. Enough with fender vents. You haven't made a good one since the 60's.
Ford US=Fail
