According to our friends over at Pistonheads, the best place to get a gander at what the new 2009 BMW 7-Series looks like isn't by setting up a tripod on the Nurburgring or by chatting up the forum fan-boys. Nope, it's heading over to EBay where apparently the front bumper for the next generation F01 BMW 7-Series has popped up on the auction site and is now going for a not-so-hefty 5 Euros. We've no idea if the seller is yanking our chain, but if they are, the joke's pretty damn funny. Now only if someone could tell us where to find our Flowbee package. One more pic from the reverse after the jump.

I just found the nose for my Toyota Sera kei car!

@POИTIFF POLAЯ: My,what big doors you have!
@layabout: All the better to greet you with!
But that's like $500 in real money.
I'm gonna offer a trade for my Connectedness Index.
Brought to me by Acura TSX!
Time for a nice, tall cup of Texaco with Techron. 1 Equal, 1 creamer. Then off to the sh*tter.
I gotta confess that I bought neither an electric razor nor an Acura TSX yesterday. Not gonna be a plastic pig-face today.
A word on the TSX thing...I'm glad the J is getting this ad revenue and all, but A) did the agency/Gawker Media not take into account the tech burden such "rich media" banners would put on the site? The Gawker Media Hamster must be very tired. B) The creative could be a bit better. Okay, it could be a lot better/more targeted to this site.
Just sayin'
@Al Navarro: I agree. I lodged a complaint yesterday after seeing some seriously weird traffic issues early in the day.
FWIW, it doesn't appear to be a campaign entirely targeted at Jalop -- Giz had the same campaign yesterday we did.
@Al Navarro: Plus, anytime an ad has any sort of moving elements on a website (which are launched automatically), it automatically loses my attention. I call it the MySpace/Epilepsy Effect :D
I much prefer a fixed banner ad (print-style) with quality writing to grab my attention. All the moving bits assume I'm going to sit there and stare at it like I'm watching TV. Double negative points if it tries to interact with me...or if it has auto-launched sound.
I'll suffer through ads for hemorrhoid cream and anal-leakage inducing weight-loss drugs but my office browser seriously barfed up Jalop yesterday. I very nearly had to do some work.
@Ray Wert:
I took that survey the other day, too. It was kind of amusing the kind of cars/brands Acura is trying to compare themselves to...
@50yardAsh:
I'm still waiting for Maserati or even Mitsu/Subaru to do the "Bruce is overrated." banner I proposed here long ago. That would do very well with the commenteriat, I think.
That survey was the downfall. Ever since I took it, I'm finding myself using Acura in every third sentence for no apparent reason. No it's molesting one of my favorite websites.
Thank God Acura dosen't advertise on Porn sites...yet.
Well there goes my Connectedness value down the ol' Jalop crapper,
Thanks guys!
I guess I won't be getting my plastic pig-face (<--- Number_Six, Ha Ha!).
It appears the next 7 will use some manner of symmetrical kidney-shaped grilles.
And those may be cut-outs for headlights on either end.
My what big nostrils you have! All the better for sucking up young children!
Hey y'all. I saw those Acura ads briefly yesterday. Then I right clicked on one, selected "Adblock Image..." and I haven't seen one since.
God bless FireFox!
From a quick copy-paste of the German ebay listing to Babelfish.Altavista.com:
They have the singular possibility an original front bumper of new siebener 7-er BMW F01 too ersteigern, since the car is not offiziel yet on the market. It concerns Entwicklungstück coming from a erlkoenig (prototype). Photos come still...... Collection in Munich desired, forwarding expenses after Detschland about 50 amounts to? Private auction, no return and warranty are void. To 28.04.08 the salesman added the following data: - the sensors for PDC are missing, but conventional BMWS sensors fit into holes. to it hinged flaps for headlamp wash/wipe system.
@Number_Six: You, sir, deserve a star.
@50yardAsh: Auto-launching sound is grounds for leaving a site.
@Ray Wert: Good--because my browser stumbled on the site constantly but especially on those halfway down the page really wide banners.
@50yardAsh: Word. Like the old hag/young hag skin ad and some of that other crap--the dancing alien/skank/reptile/skeleton. The guy with the contact lens. I just leave the page, I don't care if it's my yahoo email or what, I just leave. Do they really think people want to see that? And every single time you go to the page?
@FreeMan: I use the noscript extension to block any of those ad houses from running scripts. Seeing an ad is a means for supporting the site I'm visiting. I don't usually mind that so much. Trying to run a script on my local machine is where I draw the line.
@PAPAL POLAЯ: (mumbles) It's not a Kei, it's got a 1.5.
@BlackIce_GTS:
Kei Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
I did not know that, you see
Kei Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.
@UNÆVÒL\/ED: True. Nothing on the internet is so important that it's worth putting up with that.
