AMS claim this is the world's most powerful Evo, and they've got the dyno sheets to back it up. This Mitsubishi monster supposedly makes 1130 HP, and that's not at the flywheel, but at the wheels. And we're told it's "true" power, no nitrous-oxide assistance, just a motor built up big as can be and 51 PSI of boost. With all that power sent to four wheels, this thing just wants to jump right off the chassis dyno. This begs the obvious question — what kind of acceleration should you expect? How about a 1/4-mile run of 8.56-seconds at about 170 MPH. But don't think this was all some crazy JDM tuning. Nope, this car lives in the one and only true land of excessive power — the good ol' US of A.

Why did the let a guy with SARS tune it on the dyno?
Not too shabby. And it's not like you need a particularly flat torque curve if you're just drag racing.
Damn. I'm impressed.
My only concern is where it drops off after 110mph on the dyno.

Clearly, it was intelligently designed.
It's that .16 HP that really gives this thing the edge.
Is is me, or do they have some serious launch control issues to contend with? That thing looks like it hops & slithers all over the place trying to gain its footing. Maybe tub out the back end and put some drag slicks on it?
Oh and on the subject of JDM tuning, I saw a feature in a magazine about a Top Secret-built Supra with a twin turbo'd version of Toyota's V12 swapped in.

@skyln95: It's 51, not 31. And the 4G63T has been around for awhile, and AMS is one of the big names in Mitsubishi tuning. Making big power on a 4G63T is like making power on a small block chevy, it's a known formula.

@Dr. Spaceman: The 1130hp number is probably dyno queen figures, and it wouldn't suprise me to know that the 8.56 1/4 mile was run with less power. But honestly, any car that can run an 8.56 isn't a dyno queen.
OK.. so I've been meanin to ask this for a while. Do you auto aficianados know where I can get some WAV files for Windows? Something like this monster on the dyno would be perfect for my startup sound. Sorry for the thread-jacking.

@acarr260: Or, you can make your own. Download Windows Media Encoder9 direct from Microsoft (free). It lets you make your own audio files from streamed content (like, for instance, the video above).
Then, use Audacity (also free) to cut the parts you want / mix together your favorites into a single file.
If you want to convert to some other file formats, I recommend FreeConverter (also free).
Google will show you the way to these fine programs. Good Luck!

Well for the number of Time Attacks this car won, and the AWD unlimited class races, plus the number of times I have seen this driving on the street, I would definitely have to go against the idea of this car being a dyno queen.

That's pretty impressive but I'm also pretty sure it's going to tear itself apart, just after it tears up everything on the track.
