That's the 2009 Honda Pilot. If it looks familiar to you, it should. That's because it basically looks basically unchanged from the 2009 Honda Pilot concept we saw at the Detroit Auto Show in January. This particular, umm, fleet, of Pilots was caught outside of a Detroit area Marriott Hotel by the good folks at Car und Driver. Unfortunately C&D's shots are a bit — tiny. Although some claim size doesn't matter, more claim that it does, so if anyone wants to make a quick buck, or five hundred of them, figure out which Marriott they're at and head on out to grab some high-resolution shots (we're talking DSLR quality — sorry guys, no iPhone or other camera phone pics please).
Specifically, grab us some interior shots along with some great exterior shots of the new 2009 Pilot and if you've got the best pics and you get them in first, we'll pay you some cold hard cash. Just e-mail us at tips-at-jalopnik-dot-com once you've got them and we'll talk you through how you can send them to us. Now hop to it — the deadline's tomorrow night at midnight. Also, standard contest rules apply. [via Car & Driver]

Why doesn't this sort of thing ever happen at the Holidome in Lawrence? I have a camera and I could use some extra cash.
I'm going to chalk it up to domestic automaker shortsightedness. If they knew what was good for them, they'd relocate to northeastern Kansas.
I saw two things better than this on my drive to work today...
-A woman driving a pink Corvair Monza spyder
&
-An exotic car rental place on PCH (Showcase Exotics) that has an Audi R8 on the lot now! Not yet up on their site though so I don't know the pricing...
Good luck to all you adventurosousous (i cant spell it correct so I gave up) photogs in the area...
The new Pilot is just scary.
It appears to have put on its "angry" tail lamps.
Hmmm.... I could "take off" the afternoon, buy better camera, hit up all Mariott's, and snap a pic- to pay for said camera.
Or...I can't as I don't have much interest in this car, or a good camera. If that looked like a Dearborn Mariott I'd be tempted.
The nose looks piggish. Oink.
Those Honda's are fugly
I think anything would be an improvement. Visually, the last Pilot is the blandest car on the road. Just two boxes and a load of interior space.
Great car if you have more than two kids, I suppose. But a minivan is still better. I do see a lot more Odysseys than Pilots, but that may be expected since the Ody is built right down the road (just like the Merc R-Class, which are not too uncommon either)
The current Pilot reminds me of what a 6-7 year old kid might draw when he's drawing an "SUV", with Crayolas and all. Very generic, no distinctive features, just an "SUV". These new ones can't be any worse.
Too bad this never happens when that fleet of new Challengers is running around up here. Which, is about once a month now and for the last 3-4 months.
@Ω βгåғғ™ ۞: Speaking of car sightings on the road, on Monday ~5:30, I was just south of Baltimore, on I-95 south, when the Team Polizei M5 passed me going north.
These eyes have seen the car that set the US transcontental record - I'm never washing them with soap again!
Man, Detroit residents have all the luck.
@SwatLax: Holy crap that's egregious: transcontinental.
@Skydiver: I never ever thought I'd see the words "Detroit Residents" and "Lucky" together in the same sentence without seeing the words "Avoids fatal gunshot"
@SwatLax: I'm jealous.
@Bento the Wertsmith: well-played, sir.
That doesn't look like Detroit. It looks like California.
crap - never mind. I see the other pics now.
@Skydiver: Seriously, not only do they have this unique opportunity to make $500, but they can actually buy a house with that money.
That's not a good looking vehicle. The designers at Honda/Acura need to get fired.
They may be fugly but at least they are original.
Stunning styling, like always, from Honda. Wow. ;-)
@Bento the Wertsmith:
That is some excellent "wertsmithing" right there. Keep it up, and maybe your star will move from black market to legit.
This is still my favorite Honda SUV:

@no_slushbox: The sad part is, you're only slightly exaggerating.
I have an old Buick rotting in my garage that I need to get rid of. I think I'm going to sell it and buy a couple houses in Detroit. I need to find a property management firm or something.
Maybe for $500 I'd walk over to look at them. But only if you promised to reimburse me for my camera, should those grotesque visages break my camera due to their concentrated fugly.
@Skydiver: If Detroit residents had all the luck they wouldn't be Detroit residents anymore.
@SwatLax: wow... that is awesome.
@Pope Dearthair the Awesometh: Want to go in on a block of homes? We could be slumlords!
@usa1: Here's what Honda's US Styling Guy does in his spare time, unless he's been fired/quit for being to interesting/bored: [www.showrods.com]
Still ugly.
This only pushes me back from even walking into a Honda showroom.
