Rumors have been circulating that Audi may be possibly considering a "baby R8" —but this ain't it. The current Audi TT is a fine looking machine, but it pales in comparison to its big brother, the R8. They both have a somewhat similar shape, but the R8 has those nifty "sideblades" and some other vents and scoops. In light of this, body kit makers Caractere decided to make a kit that attempts to make your Audi TT look like an R8. We thought it was one of those hypothetical styling kits that nobody would actually buy, but we were wrong.
What we have here is a TT with said "R8" kit available for your bidding pleasure on eBay. For the $45,000 buy-it-now price you get a 3.2-liter V6, S-tronic automatic, and Quattro. It's interesting, but we're not really interested unless they incorporate this faux-R8 kit with some sort of bi-motor or mid-engine setup.

They should have made it look like a Fiero.
Its only fair.
Oh dear....
I've seen worse.
how to ruin a perfectly good Audi TT
You know, without the hokey 'blade', this would actually look pretty good.
As a rule I am against any body-kits and that includes this one. Living here in Appalachia I see some of the hoopiest looking side-moldings and spoilers you can imagine. This is tasteful compared to what I have seen some Hill-Jacks do. But, still, no.
"Second-R8 attempt"
I think its pretty funny actually. As a goof vehicle this is pretty good. As a serious concept it is frightening...
However, if they somehow squeezed the 4.2 v8 from the R8 in there like that Middle eastern racecar driver did with the SLR motor and his SLK.... that would be cool
You got them to pay how much? For that?
That's pretty much the automotive equivalent to walking around like this all day:
What a retarted idea.
Kinda goofy.
Let's see the Aveo with the Camaro-look body kit next.
@ash78: Hah! Good one!They should call it the "2nd-R8."
Don't. Quite. Get it.
You've got $45k to spend on a car.
Is there something wrong with a $45k car? Most people I know are pretty impressed if someone pulls up in a $45k car.
Spending $45k on a $45k car makes a lot more sense than $spending $45k to "play dress-up".
How much of a tool would you feel like every time you had to tell people "no, it's not a real R8. I'm just a douche."
Why am I going to spend that on a used TT, when the same money will get me a used NSX, or a Viper? (plus, there isn't the shame of it not being real)
Fier8.
Oh my god, I put a bid on this car. I seriously wanted to buy a used Audi TT, so I went on eBay and found this Peice Of Kit 2 weeks ago...
@smalleyxb122:
i agree. love the tt but it costs too much. i'll pass on your nice choices. when i see the price of this car, it is so close to s5 range, i would find a way to get the s5. they gotta drop the price on the tt. nice car but the price is crazy. my gti costs way less and will destroy a tt w/ coil overs and ecu flash. pocket the extra dough.
@Chuckie_A:
Save some jack with a quick stop by Smokey Yunick's Gutter Sales.
@smokeydog001: That's better than the 1980's LTD/Crown Vic that I used to see around town with aluminum siding side skirts. No front or rear spoiler, just side skirts.
It looks like it lost the fight.
Why is this conjuring images of an original Beetle with a Rolls radiator grill...?
Well, except that the grill is one of the nicer design elements of the Rolls (and thus worth copying), and the sideblades of the R8 are arguably the worst design element of the R8...
@smokeydog001: I'm not certain that doesn't look better.
Poserific!
Well thats just terrible.
quoting the ebay ad, "Everyone stops to ask if it is a R8." Well sir everyone you talk to is an idiot.
@vwminispeedster: he might just be leaving out the part where everyone then yells "What the fuck did you do to that R8?!" while kicking him in the crotch repeatedly...
Could we call it an R6? (Since it has a 6 pot engine in it).
this makes little kittens die
besides you want to make the TT look even cooler
make it look like the car from I robot
Why not just buy an S4? For that kind of jack, you can get an RS4 when they're 3 years old.
@Turboner: I'd rather have the R8 motor than the door blades.
@wohho: Yeah, it would look pretty nice without the blades. Almost what you'd expect the TT to look like at the next refresh. At first I thought the overall look wasn't too bad except that it made the car look cuter...like "ahh, look at the wannabe neutered R8." Just get rid of the blades and then it's just family resemblance rather than wannabe territory.
this is worse than waking up in the morning with a headache and fiding chewbaka besides u
It could be worse.. not much, but worse nonetheless.
@smokeydog001:
think jethro bodine with fiberglas skills.
ha its not bad.
if i had a TT i would buy it..
but then i would never have a TT
@FrankRizzo: Maybe an R3...
The only thing missing on a TT is the I in the middle,which perfectly describes most TT owners
It's so cute. How many clowns come out when you open the door?
I have poor language skills, is "Caractere" French for Cataracts?
@yellofury * * * * *: isn't the car from I Robot just an R8 concept car with wheel covers?
