Last night had us all in a tizzy over the draped convertible in the Lexus exhibit. Now only hours later we know its the 2008 Lexus LF-A Roadster Concept. The Detail sheet is lovely for this one: mid-front mounted 500 hp out of a V10, speed adaptive rear wing, carbon fiber and aluminum body adding up for a top speed over 200 mph. Could these be the details of the upcoming production LF-A? We certainly hope so.

If they sell this for under 100K, I can only imagine how wildly popular it will be. You'll see them in everything from MTV Cribs to the garages of rich suburban housewives.
It looks sharp!
Back in time continues.
Can you say 2000 Toyota Celica?
(sigh) I am so bored.
The taillight treatment is somewhat disturbing, but I really really hope this finds its way to a showroom some day.
The red and white interior looks like a giant Playmate brand cooler. The triple exhaust is trying too hard. But overall this thang rocks.
And for the love of god (see previous posts when it was covered) what is the technical term for the contour/shaping on the boot lid that rises to meet the back of the driver's seat?
But this car raises a question. Is it too---pretty? This makes Benz look plain. And compare it to the Ast-Mart from a couple of days ago--or even the Mazda racing beast. Heart stoppers but not exactly "pretty." I think the headlight treatments take a lot of blame for this. It doesn't look like a race car. It looks like--male or remale owned--it would be parked by the tennis courts and then maybe go shopping or go to the spa.
Edit button? Male or female (but not to exclude any remales, whatever they may be).
That's dead sexy. I would like to see it in white with a red interior.
Very nice Lexus.
Sweet F-A = Sweet FuckAll
Lexus F-A = Lexus FuckAll!
Toyota makes an Italian supercar. Sweet!
me rikey rong time.
A (new) Toyota I'd want to drive? That's umpossible!
Very interesting.
Too much wedge and over-complicated features, like the headlights....it's ok, but I think it could be much-improved.
Yawn.. NEXT!
This should be a great SC replacement.
It looks marginally less like a George Forman grill than the current Celica, but it still looks like a kitchen appliance. An appliance whose function I am not sure of, but a kitchen appliance nonetheless. Meh.
I smell an F430 that was added to the DNA collection.
How many Lexus supercar concepts have we seen in the past half-decade. Somebody shoot this thing.
@Bumblebee: I'm sure that mechanically it's just fine, but someone shoot the designers. It's hideous.
"mid-front mounted 500 hp out of a V10"
not the recipe for supercar
recipe = mid engine RWD two seater producing 500+ bhp
The Zonda can do 4 exhaust okay, why 3? Corvette copy?
the design students broke this into a module vehicle - everyone did their piece their own way - while the project manager and project leader fucked all day.
In the end taking a hammer to the transition lines between zones to smooth things out.
I imagine Cadillac doing this to their XLR, but even then, the front is balanced with the same cues.
To top it all off, it looks like they have no concept of Venturi tunnels, this thing looks like it would go flying trying to reach their quoted speed.
This just screams baseball to tailight, and baseball bat to heads of designers.
Can we get a car based on The Wraith?
The production model will be so mellowed out that I really don't see the point in critiquing the design of the concept (not to mention it's such a subjective matter -- do you really think we care whether each commenter likes its looks or not?).
