Since cars have existed, adrenaline-crazed barnstormers have made them do things their inventors never intended. Some of these death-defying feats shocked and amazed the multitudes, others proved such proto-hoons' mortality in metallic heaps. What's the most amazing car-related stunt ever?


Naturally, we're claiming Kenny Powers' amazingly optimistic attempt to launch a rocket-powered Lincoln across the St. Lawrence River. Though he failed, what makes this amazing is the enormity of the feat, compared to the paucity of physics-based planning involved. Somehow, what probably started as a napkin sketch, remained frighteningly closed to the napkin stage. That's truly amazing.
