Look, I thought that 600 horsepower in a BMW M5 was excessive. Certainly, I felt as though I had nowhere to use that power on legal roads. The 2019 Maserati Levante Trofeo, an SUV, also comes with that amount of power. Whether I will run into a similar dilemma remains to be seen. What do you want to know about it?

Maserati’s invited me out to drive its new car this weekend, so I can’t promise as thorough a shake-down as I usually give the longer press loaners. At most, I think I’ll only get to drive the car for a few hours. But still, that should give me enough time to get the basics out of the way.

I expect the car will feel like a big hammer: Powerful and fast, but also very heavy and cumbersome. I expect the inside to be luxurious and comfortable. I don’t yet know how much it will cost, but it will probably be a lot. Too much, even. Maybe.
