The original General Lee is for sale

The Dukes of Hazzard's first General Lee is going up for auction next month at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson. This is the 1969 Dodge Charger that started it all and it's expected to change hands for something north of $450,000.

The car went underwent a six year restoration starting in 2001, when it was bought out of a junkyard where it had sat for 23 years. In its first jump, it cleared sixteen feet in the air and flew some 82 feet, but the landing (as you can see above) was so hard that its leaping career ended in one fell swoop.

Since the a replica of this "Lee 1" recently sold for $450K, if you want to go home with this 383 V8-powered piece of Americana, you probably shouldn't start bidding unless you've got a cool half million in your pocket.
