Look at that goofy thing, the Aston Marin Cygnet V8. Of all the silly and hare-brained ideas, this has to be one of the silliest and most hare-brained. It’s hilarious to look at outside, hilarious to think about and, as it turns out, also hilarious to drive.

The lucky bastards over at Carfection got a chance to take the Cygnet V8 up Goodwood Hill at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

As a reminder, the Cygnet V8 has the 4.7-liter, naturally aspirated motor from a Vantage S that makes 430 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. It’s a one-off creation for a customer; a human to whom I say, well done. Jolly good.

“There’s quite a lot of pitch,” host Henry Catchpole can be heard yelling over the rumble of the V8. “It moves around quite a lot for a short wheelbase. And the gearbox needs some calibration. Boy, does it sound good, though!”

Unstable to drive? Doesn’t sound like an issue to me, sounds like a feature.

You’ve seen it driven from the outside. Now, it’s time to go inside.
