Illustration for article titled The 240 Greatest Achievements of Japanese Automotive Technology

If you ask the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, the greatest milestones in their industry range from the ABS system on the '71 Nissan President to the Subaru Impreza WRX STI... and 238 more.

I stumbled across the JSAE's site a couple weeks back and didn't emerge from it until I'd looked at just about every one of the 240 honorees. Some are on the silly side— wasn't the Toyoglide a license-built GM Powerglide clone, for example?— but the whole collection makes for fascinating reading for the true gearhead.
