I’m in moving this week, which means I must physically wrestle all the junk that I have no idea why I kept. I don’t need more stuff. I need to rid myself of stuff. But I will make an exception if you buy me this championship-winning Cadillac DPi-V.R for my birthday. I don’t have one of those, and it’s for sale!
The 600 horsepower hybrid Polestar 1 coupe is an instantly desirable car on looks alone. Now we can see it throw down in its natural habitat: where it is cold as all hell.
Here’s a little reminder from Singer Vehicle Design that pre-production development mules are the coolest cars in existence.
When the dominant Audi Sport Team Joest Le Mans prototype program closed last year, it left only two teams in the world’s top LMP1 class of endurance prototypes. Now Team Joest is partnering with Mazda in a smaller regional series, which would be a step down if LMP1 was thriving. But LMP1 isn’t, and Team Joest’s move…
Take a nice long look at those two handsome vehicles up there. They have that clean, square-jawed look of an early Range Rover, don’t they? They look like rational, practical examples of mid-late ‘70s truck and SUV design. There’s something very surprising about them, though. Think you know what it is?
Right after WWII, Ford famously turned down the Volkswagen factory at Wolfsburg, which they could have had for free. In hindsight, I’m pretty sure there was some regret about that decision, and it’s also what makes the Ford NPX-5 prototype so delightfully slathered in irony. The NPX-5 was Ford’s attempt to make a…
Tatra is one of my all-time favorite carmakers, and any day I learn about a Tatra I wasn’t aware of is a grand day indeed. Today is such a day, and I want to share it with you. Friends, behold the loveliest, most air-coolingest V8 GT car ever to never be actually made, the Tatra JK 2500.
Koenigseggs today are alien machines, unearthly in design and engineering wizardry made by a man from the future who builds cars until they are fast enough to take him home. But the first-ever Koenigsegg prototype was not that at all. It was a shoddy thing, looking like it came out of a shed in the 1990s, which it…
What appears to be a McLaren 650S Spider rigged up for development testing has reportedly been spotted on the mountain roads of Spain. Is there a new variant in the pipeline?
The Mercedes SLS AMG was, briefly, heralded as the greatest car in the world. It handled like a mid-engined car, but had all the comfort and normalcy of a front-engine GT. And it had a massive V8. But there was a flaw.
[Here is a herd of some of Porsche’s 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning cars. Excuse me, I’m going to need a moment to catch my breath after all of this drooling. Photo credit: Porsche]
A report out of Dearborn, Michigan says an aluminum Ford F-150 has been spotted running around with manufacturer camouflage and a diesel engine that sources say is the same 3.0 turbodiesel powering the new Range Rover.
Tatras are some of my absolute favorite cars. Tatra tended to make high-end, large(ish), four-door, V8, rear engine cars, and as such they’re one of the few examples of the 30s-era streamlined, rear engine concept applied to something other than a small economy car. I never realized that Tatra was experimenting with…
In 1967 the president of Pontiac was shown this LeMans Concept Sport Truck; a 350 V8-powered El Camino with the interior and front end of a Pontiac LeMans. He didn’t like it enough to build it, but at least somebody preserved it.
It was supposed to be ready in 1995 instead of a year later, and should sport a Volvo orange paintjob today instead of this brownish one. Oh well.
Nissan issued a press release explaining their crossover testing methods, and all I can say is that the Juke is tougher than me. Or you.
A lifted, high-roof’ed Maserati four-door was spotted at Pikes Peak in prototype camouflage, but it doesn’t quite look like the Levante SUV we’ve been expecting. Actually it looks exactly like a Maserati Ghibli saddled with extra weight and a lift kit.
