Today’s WeatherTech Sports Car Championship race may have ended in sadness for one team, but for others, it was an epic win in the heat. Fortunately, celebratory champagne is cool. Here’s a few shots of the winners hoping to enjoy some of that cool bubbly on the podium.
Everyone’s favorite ‘Strayan F1-driving honey badger Daniel Ricciardo offered a surprise explanation for how Australians can stomach beer-funk as a condiment: he drank out of his friggin’ shoe on the podium. I mean, at least vegemite isn’t foot-funk. Ricciardo claims the foot-funk tastes “good.” Right.
For the past few years, Formula 1 has had some random old person interview the top three drivers of the race as they stand on the podium. It should come as little surprise that this is a terrible and great idea.
Things got a bit awkward between Russian autocrat/one-time Formula Something driver Vladimir Putin and Formula One Russian Grand Prix winner Nico Rosberg after today’s race. Putin looks like he feels ignored as Rosberg does everything else but shake his hand, and then unleashes the shade.
Twenty-five cars are currently under investigation for various incidents during the Long Beach Grand Prix round of the Pirelli World Challenge, including that of Ryan Dalziel. Dalziel was so frustrated with how this race went that he just walked off the podium during the celebration afterwards.
