Last month we showed you a heavily clad Volvo XC70, and now it's time to show you the XC's less suspension-raised and in this case, much-less-fascia-obscura, brother — the V70. Unfortunately, since we don't speak a lick of Swedish, we can't tell you much more than what our naked eye sees — it looks as though this is the 2008 grandson of the old 850 station wagon. We've got the ass-end shot above with the side-view below the jump — then click on through to the site of record for some helpful p-shop shots of the front-end. [Hat tip to Zerin!]

Blast, I wrote a translation that disappeared :p

There is a V70R coming, with a 370bhp twinturbo V8. The car in the pictures are a pre-production vehicle, photographed at the Volvo plant in Torslanda, Gothenburg (This meaning that the guy who took the pictures will probably be busted.)

Other engines will be a ~200bhp E85 2.0L I5, a lesser 2.0L engine from Ford and two diesels. I guess the V8 will be available as N/A as well.

17" wheels will be standard on the V70 T5 AWD, and the car will have the same equipment levels as the S80.

The rear hatch is said to resemble the hexagonal shape used on the 145/245. The distance between the axles has grown 8cm, making it possible to fit a larger rear seat. The rear overhang is said to have increased as well, leading to a small increase in luggage space as well.

Front facia will be new, but bonnet fenders and front doors will be shared with the S80.

The car will be shown in public at Geneva in mars, deliveries will start in early summer '07 and the V70R will appear late '08 / early '09.
