The mini-ute market is about to get more crowded than OTB on payday. According to these spy shots (and one spec image, pictured) running in Edmunds Inside Line, Nissan is working up a smaller sibling to the Murano — a compact SUV that could, like the new Versa subcompact, take its design cues from the Renault side of the family. Reports indicate the new model, which would break cover in 2007, would be powered by a 2.0-liter four at the bottom end and a six at the top, putting it in range of the RAV4s and CRVs of the world. It also means Nissan's joining a club to be joined by Mercedes, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Volvo, Acura, etc. etc. Prepare to be sick of these things by early '09.
