Even though it's their worst recording, we highly encourage you to crank up H sker D 's Land Speed record this afternoon in honor of Andy Green's total obliteration of the sound barrier on land back in 1997. It happened On October 13th, 1997 out on Nevada's Black Rock Desert, more famously known for neo-hippies with a peaceful vision of Mad Max's post-apocalyptic dystopia. But the only burning man on the playa that day was Green, who not only destroyed Stan Barrett's unofficial 739.666, laid down by the Budweiser Rocket back in '79, he also blew Craig Breedlove's "Spirit of America" into the weeks. [Thanks to Big Rick for the tip.]
