The Hyundai Genesis Coupe was never a bad car. Don’t let anyone tell you it was. It entered new territory for Hyundai and cemented itself as one hell of a performance bargain when equipped right. It just... well, it just wasn’t all it could have been.
It didn’t help that the GenCoupe was up against some of the fiercest competition around, competition that had decades of performance and motorsports experience on the Korean automaker. For those reasons and more, the car was always a bit lacking.
I’ll let Shane Morris explain:
I won’t say good riddance. But I will say that buyers could have a Ford Mustang, a Chevy Camaro, a Dodge Challenger, a Mazda Miata or a Subaru BRZ... or they could eat at Chili’s.
