The nine-time world champion chose his home rally in France to bid farewell to his 14-season long career in WRC, but on the final day, it all went tits up at the Cleethorpes vineyards when he lost control on the wet tarmac and fell into a ditch.

As you probably know, the pair of fellow Frenchmen Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia won this WRC season on the first day of Rallye de France. Some cynics say that's only because Loeb missed most rounds of his final season in order to relax or see what he could do with a Peugeot.

I disagree, and here's the latest proof that despite the popular belief, Loeb is only human just like the rest of us:

Sacré bleu! Not the best way to end such an amazing success story, but it happens. Luckily, Loeb and co-driver Dani Elena didn't get hurt, and got lots of champagne during the sendoff party to cure their disappointment. All Citroën needs now is better luck at the WTCC, because that challenge won't feel like the final round of Whose Line Is It Anyways.
