I'm not exactly sure if the fact that the guy arrested for riding a horned bouncy ball (known as a 'Space Hopper') was drunk makes it better or worse, but this unnamed Scot was drunk, and was hopping along on a big ball on a busy main road into a tunnel.

The story in the Scotsman is full of delightfully non-American descriptions like 'dual carriageway' and 'Dundee's Marketgait on Hogmanay.' But I think I like this quote, from one of the police officers involved:

"I wondered what it was at first but then I saw the two wee horns sticking out the top."

Ah, the wee horns. So far, no action has been taken against the man, though I suspect his Space Hopper has been impounded, or at least fitted with a boot. I hope the man will be forced to take Space Hopper safety classes to be sure that this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

Space Hopper usage is a privilege, not a right, and it's up to us to respect all that that entails.

I just hope he had that thing at the proper PSI.
