Porsche 911 GT3 Cup To The RScue

Illustration for article titled Porsche 911 GT3 Cup To The RScue

The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup's switching to the 911 GT3 RS platform, boasting a lower weight than the outgoing GT3-based Cup racer and 450 hp from Porsche's 3.8-liter flat-six. It also looks almost exactly the same.

Porsche calls the 911 GT3 Cup the best-selling race car in the world, and for just $150K before taxes, you can't afford not to buy one. Unless you're poor. Then Porsche can afford to ignore your needs. If you're not planning to go on the track or want a car for the street, the RS is nearly identical.

Why Porsche soldiers on with this design is beyond me. Rear engined is a really bad design. It would be cool if they were decent looking but they look like a used soap bar. I really like Porsche as a company but the 911 desperately needs a rethink. For you fanboys that think these are the best and will rip me to many formula 1 vehicles currently run rear engine designs, eh?
