Last week, in Jefferson County, Texas, a Dodge Challenger Hellcat was allegedly stolen and then involved in a high-speed police chase. The whole thing played out in a very Vanishing Point kind of way.

Twenty-five-year-old Mohamed Ahmed Abu-Shlieba is said by police to have stolen the white Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The chase began in Houston, reports local news outlet KSAT. From the story:

Abu-Shlieba, who police said was in a stolen white Dodge Hellcat, was driving at speeds of more than 100 mph on the I-10 East Freeway heading east, according to police. He drove through Harris County, Chambers County and toward Jefferson County.

Abu-Shlieba then abandoned the car and attempted to bail on foot through a field. Officers think it was because he ran out of gas. Not long after that, he was apprehended by local law enforcement.

Marcus McLellan, with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, stated, “From the information that I gathered he had a number of warrants out for his arrest, felony warrants. He was under surveillance for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.”

Nobody was hurt, thankfully.
