After delays caused by errant boats and high winds, NASA's new deep-space exporation craft, Orion, finally got into orbit this morning for its first unmanned test flight. The full launch video is above there, and continues all the way into orbit. It's fascinating to watch.

There's some really good shots of the protective fairing being jettisoned, and by the end you can see the curvature of the Earth. Orion should make its splashdown in about an hour and a half or so.

It's exciting to see this new generation of spacecraft finally begin, especially since we sort of have a space-dog in this fight. Go Orion!
