Opel Ampera: Volt No Longer Robin, Now Nightwing

Illustration for article titled Opel Ampera: Volt No Longer Robin, Now Nightwing

The Opel Ampera's basically a Chevy Volt wearing a domino mask, and after seeing this first production-version image we realized the superhero it's playing is Nightwing, a grown up Dick Grayson to the Volt's boy-wonder Robin. Comic book likeness below.

Arguably more handsome than the Volt, or perhaps I'm just sick and tired of being shown artfully grey prototypes.

Can we go back to cars that have color? Remember when Impalas were available in green and brown?

Okay, I'd still skip brown.

But dammit, it's like the manufacturers don't want you to have any fun unless you're buying a "fun" car. You can have your xB in red, blue, white or green, but not a Camry. That's a different palette, and one that almost entirely muted. All the colors look like they're being shown through smoke-tinted glass.

Screw this. I want to have Ferrari red on a Toyota pickup. I want my green ecomobile to be Electric Green! Could I have Pepto Pink on something? Like a new Caddy? That'd be cool.
