Once again proving that new car buyers absolutely do not give a shit about recalls, GM's sales were up 13 percent in May, about twice what analysts predicted.
Another way to think about this...because of the massive amount of recalls, GM dealers are seeing a huge increase in visitors to their dealership. Every visitor is an opportunity for a sale. So chances are there are at least a good number of Cobalt drivers thinking it was time to trade-in. You combine that with actually having them go to the showroom and see the incentives on Cruze, Malibu etc...you are going to grab more sales.
It is really a numbers game, the more people come in, the higher your chances of making more sales.
