Jeep's latest summer ad features the "new" song from Michael Jackson Love Never Felt So Good with images of cool young people doing cool summer things with a Wrangler and a Cherokee. Inexplicably, the Compass also makes an appearance.


The voice over lady in the commercial calls it:

"The new look of summer..."

That's all well and good, even though I don't really see how a 30 year old Michael Jackson song selling a Wrangler represents anything "new," but that doesn't make it a bad spot. It's smart to use the Jackson song, which no doubt will be a big summer jam, with cars that traditionally sell well in the summer.


Also, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving makes an appearance for some reason.

Fiat Chrysler has been using some musical heavy hitters lately to shill their wares: Bob Dylan for the Chrysler 200, and Diddy with Pharell William's Happy in the Fiat 500L spot. Quoted in Ad Age Olivier Francois CMO of Chrysler said that Dodge has more of a "heavy metal/hard rock vibe."

So can we expect the next ad for the Charger to feature Poison's Nothin' But A Good Time? My money would be on yes.
