We can all rejoice. NBC Sports has just named former SPEED personality Will Buxton as the pit reporter for all of its F1 coverage in 2013.

This is a welcome turnaround for Buxton, who found out that SPEED was losing F1 — and that he was losing his job — via Twitter.

Buxton will be joining Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs, and Steve Matchett on the 2013 NBC commentary team. With a promised 100 hours of coverage and another promise to send reporters to a few races (Buxton will be at every round), NBC's coverage for next year is sounding pretty awesome.

There is also a chance that Buxton will be alongside Diffey during IndyCar broadcasts next year as the pit reporter there. That has not been announced quite yet.

Will seems pleased.

Any word on what channel the races will be airing? I was excited when I heard it wasn't going to be on Speed anymore, cause I only get that channel in low def, but if they're on an obscure NBC channel, there's no real gain for me.
