For every automaker, there are thousands of design/production outsourcers in the world, all vying for business from a small number of major players. The most well-financed (or successful, whichever) of these can build full-sized prototypes with which to attract the digicam lenses of the world's car-curious press flunkies (guilty) who show up in Geneva by the Boeing 767 full. Last year, Mazel Design brought along its Jav X Concept, a modern take on the careless (-free?) art of dune buggies. This year, teaming up with Identity Cars Engineering of Spain, the group brought the i1, which โ€” like the Jav โ€” looks like something Hot Wheels, not, say, Nissan, would build. Still, it's lime green. You've gotta love lime green.
