The newest F1 track, Yas Marina is built atop a man-made island off the coast of Abu Dhabi. An Arabian version of Monaco, the circuit looks best with cars lapping it, cars like this Mercedes SLR 722.

While some newer tracks merely attempt to replicate corners from more historic locations, Mercedes F1 driver Nico Rosberg says that every one of Yas Marina's 21 corners are "unique."

The circuit's inaugural F1 race held last November was the first ever to be held during the transition from night to day. Specially timed floodlights were used to ensure the drivers couldn't experience a visual difference as the sun set. The whole track cost $1.32 billion to build and the result is stunning but sadly, like many modern circuits, there's very little opportunity for overtaking. That's not a problem today, that SLR and the Mercedes C63 AMG DTM were lapping merely for demo purposes.
