It wasn't a surprise to us when the folks at BMW announced Austrian firm Magna Steyr would get the contract for building the Mini Crossman SUV, as the company is already responsible for the production of the BMW X3, Jeep Grand Cherokee and other vehicles. Our interest in the Mini Crossman is now even greater after seeing Magna Steyr's MILA Alpin concept, which looks to be a compact SUV hatch the company is bringing to Geneva.

Of course, we don't expect the Mini will be powered by a CNG hybrid powertrain or have 3+1 seating, nor do we think those wheels are going to be standard on any new car coming out from a major automaker. All that being said, it does get the old think sack vibrating. [Magna Steyr via World Car Fans]
