If you've had a photo of your license plate taken by a Los Angeles red-light camera, great news: Not only is any fine "voluntary," but the cameras will be shut off July 31. Thank heavens. L.A. drivers are so cautious.
Isn't there a constitutional aspect, that puts red-light cameras into the realm of a civil misdemeanor fine, and not a crime, since it wasn't enforced by an actual officer?
It is tax collection, so who knows... IRS considers you guilty until proven innocent, a direct violation of due process and presumption of innocence in the Constitution, so the law is what they say it is, I guess.
